LABOUR LAW AND LABOUR RELATIONS (LABOREL) 3 units This is an introductory course in labour law and working procedures, focusing on legal foundations and concepts. The course is divided into three main parts, called modules. The first part deals with the law of labour standards.
The second part deals with industrial relations law. Part III deals with the administrative procedures and mechanisms associated with the application of these laws. (PRCLMGT) 3 units The prclmgt course, which consists of two semesters, first exposes students to the basics of legal research using the library`s collection and legal documents. Students are then trained in legal drafting, which consists of a memorandum on a legal issue and the draft of common legal documents. In the second semester, students are deployed for a period of 200 hours to select law firms, corporations or government agencies for on-the-job training, where they can apply the knowledge they have learned in class. LAW ON CORPORATE TAX AND INCOME (BUCOTAX) 3 units The course is mainly a study of the basic principles of taxation, income tax, inheritance and donor taxes, as well as various corporate taxes and transfers levied under the National Domestic Revenue Code (NIRC).
The first part aims to place taxation as a law in the context of the Philippine legal system and introduces the student to the concept of taxation and its importance as a state power. It also tries to familiarize the student with the general principles of taxation. The second part is mainly devoted to the study of the concept of income tax and income tax; Business taxes in particular, value added tax (VAT), as well as other corporate taxes, namely: excise duties, other percentages of taxes, stamp taxes on documents and the Community tax certificate. METHOD OF BASIC LEGAL RESEARCH (DOCULMG) 3 units The course is an introduction to the methodology of legal research designed to provide an overview of the Philippine legal system as a source of research frameworks, problems and authorities, as well as the fundamental concepts, principles and theories of legal research as appropriately guided by the Manual of Legal Citations.

INTERNATIONAL TRADE LAW (INTELAW) 3 units This is an introductory course to the interaction between international trade policy and international law. It will examine the development of GATT and the WTO as well as the basic principles of the GATT/WTO system. It will also address the arguments for and against free trade and the various mechanisms that influence free trade, such as bilateral and regional trade agreements, dispute settlement, and tariff and non-tariff barriers. It will also address the GATS, the TRIPS Agreement and trade facilitation, in particular the Kyoto Agreement, and its impact on the Philippine legal framework. Finally, the course will address the Philippines` trade negotiation process and the Philippine structure. College majors in political science or law provide a solid foundation for paralegal careers. For example, De La Salle-Manila University offers bachelor`s degrees in political science, development studies, and legal management.
